The waters of Cassis show brilliant blues much like a beautiful canvas. Besides these attractions, Bouillabaisse is a must have in Cassis. The preparation and serving of this delicious dish is no laughing matter and is documented in a Marseilles Hcarter. Indulge in Cassis’s famed white wines while enjoying the Bouillabaisse served with four to six fresh designated fish.

What to see

1. Calanques

Cassis is home to the Calanques, which are stunning coves with dramatic limestone walls. Beautiful waters surround these Calanques which have cliffs towering them. These Calanques can be approached by road, boat, foot, kayaks and many tours are also available. Port-Miou is the first Calanque and En-Vau is the farthest and most famous one. The trip to the Calanques makes for many great picnic spots and you have the option of jumping from the calanque into the water.

2. Harbor

Cassis offers a chance at true la vie Française experience along its harbor. Pastel colors, boats lined up on the harbor are a picturesque sight and will lure you into a slow, leisurely walk, south of France style.

3. Cap Canaille

Cap Canaille is the highest sea cliff of Europe and is adorned with an ochre colored sandstone and white limestone. The stunning views of the Gulf of Cassis, olive groves, calanques and vineyards make the drive to Cap Canaille worth a visit.

4. Domaine du Paternel

The vineyards of Domaine du Paternel are famous throughout Cassis and have some of the best wines of the area. Discover wine making as you walk through the vineyards and enjoy wine tasting as well. The Cassis Blanc de Blancs Cuvée Cesario and Cassis Rosé are must-haves. Mention the French District and you are bound to see a smile light up on the family’s faces and enjoy their special treatment.
