Nadège Monchera-Baer: Grazing in Eden (original art)

Nadège, a French artist who studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, won the “The Villa Medicis Hors Les Murs”, a high French cultural honor, and was awarded an artist residency in Berlin and New York. She then moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she resides and creates. She is one of LA’s most interesting artists and her work is frequently shown in solo and group shows in Paris, Germany, Japan, Los Angeles, and New York. Her work is held in private collections, both in the U.S. and internationally.

Nadège’s work centers on colorful abstract paintings on canvas and complex, highly intricate drawings on mylar. Her current artwork references a wide range of sources often distilled from images of nature or public news photos, frequently connected to tragic or disturbing global and/or environmental events, though the source and recognition of specific origins are obscured to the point of non-recognition by the time of completion. These pieces are sublime studies of the interplay between line, detail, texture, and intricate pattern that subvert and reshape the narrative.
