The Big Apple…in a new light!

2 wheels, 2 legs and 2 eyes to make for a night bike ride through the city’s lights.

“A city is beautiful at night”, said Richard Bohringer. Manhattan, the city that never sleeps, is indeed a spectacle of striking beauty as the sun goes down leaving behind traces of neon and the hustle and bustle of the night. Brooklyn Bridge is impressive by day and by night… A great view to feast on Friday and Sunday evening, while pedaling through the city thanks to nocturnal tours which depart from NYC.

Tour E – Brooklyn in Twilight

The tour takes place on Sundays departing between 2 pm and 6 pm depending on the season and the sunset time. The “less” traffic (everything is relative anyway…) makes the experience even more enjoyable!

Departure is at the heart of West Village, a favorite spot for many sitcoms; slowly pedaling towards Wall Street and 9/11 Memorial along the Hudson River. It finally arrives on the Brooklyn Bridge, with the breathtaking view on Manhattan. On a clear day, your eyes can even feast on the Empire State Building. The leisurely pedal continues to Foley Square and SoHo as you head back to the starting point.

The tour begins in the historic district of East Village, then moves rapidly towards the Lower East Village. Cyclists then pedal to the happening hangouts of Lower East Side, Nolita (North of Little Italy) and Soho. From there, you pedal to the Brooklyn Bridge along its beautiful bike paths.

The tour continues towards the Financial District and Wall Street, and then along the Hudson River. As the ride draws to a close you bike through Greenwich Village and continue in the middle of Times Square on a Friday Night before finishing in style on Broadway.

For those who love the concept… but prefer to gift it, the Cloud 9 site which specializes in gifts online, offers the same kind of tours: Cloud9Living.com/New-York/Brooklyn-Bridge-Twilight-Bike-Tour.

My two favourite things in life are libraries and bicycles. They both move people forward without wasting anything. The perfect day: riding a bike to the library.
